WELCOME!
If you’re here, then you must have been referred by a client of mine. A very happy client for certain. I know you were given a link to my webpage because I do not seek out new business, nor do I advertise or conduct any SEO for my own services. I’m just 1 person, and I already have all the repeat biz I can handle… but I will find time for a ‘referred’ new client.
Why am I so good at what I do, and why go-it alone? “Should I tell people about my autism or not?” For me, the answer is YES!, Why? I guess my attitude is unusual.
Most autistic people I’ve come across are polarized to think it’s either no one’s business under any circumstances or you should shout it from the rooftops.
Me?
I’m completely open about it in civilian life and positively vocal about it in business.
Why?
Because I figure my clients, especially the ones I deal with closely, deserve to know why I’m so weird at times.
Plus, being purely cynical now, it’s one more thing to make me different in a homogeneous industry of marketing knuckleheads.
But it goes much deeper than this, because my Asperger’s isn’t just of benefit to me…
… it’s a definite benefit to you.
How?
Great question and I’m glad you asked. Because here are just FIVE ways my Asperger’s can help YOUR business:
1. I’m extremely smart, outrageously perceptive, and lighting fast (and modest, of course).
2. I don’t get emotionally involved in your business. Here’s something I’ve noticed over the years: business owners are extremely emotionally invested in their businesses. And because much of what’s required to be successful in business is painful, uncomfortable, counter-intuitive, and contrary to virtually everything they’ve learned about the way things “should” be done, they’ll construct all manner of logical but false narratives to allow themselves the latitude of avoiding doing the work.
I’ve seen business owners follow their businesses down to fiery oblivion because of some desperate emotional attachment to what they’re doing and what they’ve done (as often as not they’re victims of the “sunk cost fallacy”).
But because I’m an outsider and almost completely lacking in the ability to empathize unless I’m very close to you, I can see your problems and solutions clearly without being bogged down in an emotional miasma of regret, frustration, and a sense of failure. You will hear harsh truths from me, but you’ll know I have your best interests at heart.
3. I don’t feel the need to spare your feelings (and wouldn’t know how to, in any case). You talk to me, you’re getting emotionally overwrought, defensive, and showing all the signs of not wanting to talk about the issue we’ve uncovered. Your average NT is gonna sense this and back off and leave you alone.
But I ain’t.
With rare exception, and only if I know you well, I’m simply not gonna notice. And even if I do, I won’t care (because it never occurs to me why you’d be upset or uncomfortable — like I’ve said, I don’t live in your world). So I just keep digging until we get to the root of the problem, and I’m not subtle about it.
Sure, it’s painful (for you), but it does the trick.
4. I’m logical and objective. Another Aspie trait, following on from my apparent lack of feeling and emotion, is I tend to see things logically and objectively. I know this can frustrate the hell out of people at times because it seems like I don’t care.
This can cause problems in personal relationships, but for the most part it’s a definite benefit because I cut right to the heart of the matter and can see the logical next step to take, regardless of feelings and all the emotional baggage they imply.
5. I have an insanely accurate eye for detail. Curious thing about (most of) us Aspies: when we’re interested in something we can’t rest until we’ve dissected and dismantled it and understand its workings in minute detail.
Here’s a secret for you: one reason I know so much stupid, pointless, and irrelevant stuff is the moment a topic interests me I’ll go buy a dozen books on the topic and read them. Hey Presto! Within a few short weeks I know more about it than 99% of humanity. This is the easy way to become a polymath.
But the point here is this: because I’ll be interested in your business, nothing is going to escape my notice or attention. More to the point, I’ll chase down and relentlessly dig at those uncomfortable and painful points of conflict, challenge, and stress in your business and force you to confront them.
I realize all this may make me sound like some kind of emotionless and soulless robot, but nothing could be further from the truth. The difference between you and me is I don’t recognize the emotions so well, I don’t have the ability to express them even if I feel them, and I often have no way of knowing how you’re feeling any case.
But as you’ll know if you have met me, I appear almost as normal as the next dude.
True, I do appear a little odd at times, but to peg me as an Aspie you’d have to know me pretty well and observe me over a long period of time. Even people close to me whom I’ve known for several years have only recently grokked and embraced the fact I have Asperger’s.
So, fret ye not.
Join me, and you’ll get the full benefit of my screwed-up brain, and you’ll hardly notice a thing.
So, if you want to learn more about working with me and see if you qualify…
… talk to me.
You must be:
• Ready to watch hours of previously recorded lessons I think you need.

• Prepared to knuckle down to some serious (and uncomfortable) work.

• Able to deal with me being insensitive and charmingly inept with the social graces.
• Possessed of a great sense of humour
If that’s you…

P.S. Something else probably worth mentioning is we Aspies tend to be very much creatures of habit, and routine. Far more so than NT’s.
In fact some Aspies get upset if their routines are broken or disrupted. I’m somewhere in the middle. I can cope with my routines be disrupted, but I do feel very uncomfortable and it takes a while to get used to it.
If you’re a friend of mine on Facebook, for example, and you bothered to check, you’d perhaps notice I cycle the same route every single day (I actually have three routes of different lengths, but I always cycle one or other of these). Some time ago they were doing some work on the sewers in town and close to some of the roads…
Oh my god, but did that throw me.
I didn’t get upset or anything, but having to change my route disturb my sense of “rightness” and it felt very uncomfortable.
Decidedly odd, eh?
Mind you, it makes dieting easy because I enjoy eating the same thing over and over again.
Thing is, all this, too, can work in your favor, because it means I have a rigorous and logical approach to solving your problems.
Think about it.
So, if you think you have what it takes to earn your place with me…
